VOLUNTEER FOR RESEARCH
WHIM Study: Cannabidiol (CBD) and Cannabigerol (CBG) Suppository for Endometriosis
PK, Quasi-Clinical Trial
BAcKGROUND
Despite recent increases in both medical and recreational cannabis in the United States and globally, little research has been conducted to determine the potential applications for womens health. Specifically, a variety of medical cannabis and hemp-derived products on the marketplace claim to hold efficacy for many womens health-related conditions, such as dysmennorhea, endometriosis, painful intercourse, and menopause-related symptoms.
This will be the first study to assess the impact of a local hemp-derived, full spectrum suppository high in cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG) on pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) variables and clinical symptoms in individuals with endometriosis.
STUDY DETAILS
The study involves 5 visits over an 8-week period and consist of some tasks that can be done from home (e.g., clinical check-in, questionnaires, cognitive task), and some that will require you to come to the hospital (e.g., blood draw, saliva sample, urine screening).
After the first visit but prior to starting treatment with the suppository, participants may have the option to complete an additional optional visit involving questionnaires and collection of blood samples through repeated blood draws before and after self-administration of the suppository.
The Principal Investigator will not supply the suppositories for this study or be involved in the administration of the suppositories. Participants will instead acquire the suppositories by reaching out directly to the company that manufactures the product, and will use the suppositories as needed throughout the duration of the trial.
